Walnut

Cultural & Mythic Significance

There are no universally held Irish, Scottish, Welsh or Breton significances for Walnut because it is native to North America. What do see much of its lore from is the English Walnut. When looking at qualities of the Walnut tree we see that it’s an allelopathic meaning it produces a chemical called Juglone. This prevents certain other plants from growing under or near it due to the changed alkaline nature of the soil. Its a repeller of certain plant types and these associations can be applied to this significance.

Magical Qualities

Magically, we can see Walnut as an expeller. It can be used as a wonderful ally to aid in the help of getting rid of, or removing of, unwanted energy. Walnut is also a “container” of sorts. The protective outer shell of this tree’s fruit speak to its ability to be a “container” for small things that may get lost.

With the aid of Walnut you can cleanse the energy you want to rid your space and self of, and then allow it to help you take the small vulnerable beginnings and nurture them into maturity.
